Main duties of the job

As the NHS continues to face enormous pressure, we face our own set of challenges and opportunities. This newly created role of Deputy Chief Operating Officer provides the opportunity to join a successful and ambitious Shelford Group trust in a senior operational leadership role. This role will support the Chief Operating Officer in coordinating trust-wide delivery of clinical and operational services, working alongside the Divisional leadership teams to ensure that safe, high quality patient focused services are delivered to time and to budget. The Deputy Chief Operating Officer will also oversee the Trust's operational performance framework, co-ordinating teams as needed to achieve required standard and provide leadership, motivating and supporting staff to deliver the objectives of the Trust and the best possible patient experience and care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

As an executive/senior officer at CUH, you are accountable for the health and safety of employees and other persons who may be affected by the Trusts work activities in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Master's degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in management. Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable

Degree Level education or equivalent, preferably in a health care subject.

Experience

Essential

Successful track record and relevant experience as a Senior Manager within an NHS organisation or similar. Successful track record of delivering performance improvement. Evidence of sound financial management. Evidence of excellent people management. Evidence of managing change effectively.

Desirable

Experience within an acute hospital setting.

Knowledge

Essential

Political astuteness, understanding what can and cannot be delivered at senior level. A proven ability to obtain and consistently achieve results and targets. Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to motivate, challenge and engage individuals and teams. The ability to shape the future and bring staff with you. Proven ability to deal with a wide range of data and information and take appropriate decisions from it. A proven ability to come up with flexible and creative solutions to difficult problems. Excellent collaborative working skills and able to build strong relationships with clinical leaders and professional staff groups, and a proven ability to influence and change those groups. Effective and strategic influencing.

Desirable

Experience of partnership working. Evidence of playing a major role in an organisational change programme. Formal project management training. Presentational media experience. perience of healthcare delivery in different organisations.
