This is a consultant level role aimed at those with significant experience in training, a thorough understanding of the CAP role and training delivery, a sound knowledge of university processes, and who are ready to hold a role where they will line manage other senior clinical staff and clinical lecturers, holding responsibility for the leadership, governance and delivery of the programme. The post holder will have extensive pedagogical knowledge and demonstrable record in the design and delivery of substantive programmes of training.

Main duties of the job

The CAP Programme Lead will ensure the delivery of high-quality education, including the design, delivery and evaluation of teaching, training and assessment, meeting the requirements of professional standards. They will lead the programme team, utilising data from evaluations and feedback to inform programme development, teaching practice, Trust policies and procedures, and new projects.

The successful candidate will directly manage the CAP training programme and staff, and will oversee the development and delivery of new training pathways working with stakeholders including university and provider organisations. They will be responsible for ensuring that systems are in place for recruitment, supervision, appraisal and support of staff. The post holder should have an excellent understanding of learning and teaching, taking responsibility for designing and delivering specialist teaching and training, and assessment of student performance and competence drawing on their experience and expertise, ethically and in compliance with professional guidelines. The post holder will have a sound knowledge of management processes and experience of leadership.

They will work collaboratively with key partner organisations, clinicians, and others, considering Trust policies, national standards, professional training standards, academic quality standards and relevant government policy and guidance on apprenticeships, to provide high quality and appropriate training to staff and students.

About us

EPUT has recently won the HSJ Workforce Initiative of the Year award alongside two partner NHS Trusts for the development of the Clinical Associate in Psychology role. The CAP programme has excellent links to the national Group of Trainers in CAPs as well as to the professional body, the British Psychological Society. We work closely with other training providers (universities) and with partner employers (regional NHS Trusts) who have apprentices registered on our programme. The post holder will have the opportunity to build their engagement with these wider networks, offering excellent opportunities for taking a leadership role in these wider systems.

The Trust offers excellent support for staff CPD, and post holders will be supported to further develop their academic a research portfolio. The CAP programme includes learners from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and beyond and we have in place an innovative 'blended learning' approach to the teaching delivery, which includes both remote online delivery and place-based delivery. While the programme largely operates from Epping and Brentwood, which is easily accessible via the M25 and rail links, the staff team are able to do a significant proportion of their work remotely and there are opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
