Would you like a job that allows you to support people in your local community?

No two days days are the same in Community Engagement. One day we could be training volunteers, and the next day visiting somebody living with a life limiting condition in their own home who needs our support.

We are looking for somebody who is great with people, can effectively manage their time and has strong administrative skills.

Main duties of the job

This role will sit within our Community Engagement Team and will support the ongoing development of our services to reach more people who are affected by social isolation, loneliness, and bereavement. As the Compassionate Communities Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering ourCompassionate Neighbour Programme and supporting with the day to day running of other Compassionate Communities activity. The Compassionate Neighbours programme aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation amongst people living in the community, who are at the end of their life due to old age or illness. As part of this programme, you will work closely with adults who are living with a life limiting or terminal illness, visiting their homes on a one-to-one basis to find out more about them and carry out a risk assessment. You will also support the Compassionate Communities Programme Manager with other activities including the development of community hubs and other services.

Job responsibilities

To maintain and grow the Compassionate Neighbours programme to agreed levels. Recruit, train, and supervise Compassionate Communities volunteers. Process internal and external referrals received into compassionate Neighbours Programme Carry out assessments with referred Community Members in their own homes. Be the first point of contact for Compassionate Communities volunteers, providing advice and support, organising engagement activities, and running regular catch ups. Deliver training to the Compassionate Neighbour volunteers. Coordinate Compassionate Communities activities which include managing relationships with existing groups, supervising volunteers, and welcoming new visitors into the space. Supervise office-based volunteers. Be responsible for inputting accurate information into our Database and produce regular reports of activity. Coordinate the collection, collation and processing of information associated with all Compassionate Communities activity. To contribute the evaluation of services within remit. Participate in team meetings and team development activities. Communicate and build relationships with the internal hospice teams and external health and social care professionals to identify possible referrals to our various services and ensure they meet our criteria. Participate in and contribute within external networks and forums to ensure our services and hospice is represented in appropriate areas. Supply the Communications Team with stories and information about our services, in order that they can cover local events and stories that describe the work of the Compassionate Communities team.
