Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) to join our friendly, energetic, and forward-thinking specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder Service. Doctoral trainees in their final months of gaining their qualification are invited to apply for this post, as well as applicants with experience post qualification who have an interest in working with young people with eating disorders and their families.

The role allows for diverse working practice, providing systemic family-based treatment and specialist psychological assessments and interventions. Our well embedded psychology team and pathway provides a variety of interventions for a range of different presentations. Working eclectically and formulation driven- using evidence-based and integrated approaches.

The role will also include leadership development, strategic and operational projects, audit, and research opportunities, providing supervision, consultancy, teaching alongside multiple CPD opportunities.

This is a fantastic, varied role which will help psychologists to develop professional and personal skills in a supportive and skilled environment.

The successful applicant will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team with a base in Winchester but working across Hampshire supporting clinicians. (Please note, the base can be flexible. We have opportunities to be based in the Southeast- Fareham or in the North- Basingstoke).

Main duties of the job

To contribute a qualified, high-quality specialist psychology service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathway.

The successful applicant will be supported by colleagues within the Eating Disorder Team and encouraged to attend County Wide Psychology meetings to support understanding of wider psychology provision, as well as acting as an opportunity for networking and contribution inline with job plans and professional development.

The successful post holder will support our multi-disciplinary team to complete specialist assessment in a community setting.

To provide consultation to colleagues and supervision to team members of the Eating Disorder Team in relation to psychological aspects of their roles, including the provision of psychology informed interventions to service users care.

They will be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.

They will also use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions, where appropriate, in complex clinical issues.

Utilising research skills for the purpose of service evaluation, audit, research and teaching within the team/to various stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential

Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as approved by the HCPC. Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)
