Specialist Brain Injury Vocational Rehabilitation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within the Working Out Programme (Specialist Vocational Rehabilitation Team) in the Community Head Injury Service as a Band 4 Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant. This post is fixed term until the 14th June 2025 and 37.5 hours per week.
Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapists and a Placement Consultant, you will be supporting adults with an acquired brain injury to achieve their vocational rehabilitation goals in both 1-1 and group therapy sessions in either the clients own home, Brookside Clinic, other community settings, or virtually.
Main duties of the job
The role is based at the Community Head Injury Service, Brookside Clinic, delivering specialised vocational rehabilitation programmes as agreed between the client and the Occupational Therapists or Placement Consultant. You will be working closely within an inter-disciplinary team in the Community Head Injury Service to deliver client centred assessments and interventions. The role will include assisting clients to prepare for work through rehabilitation, coaching and liaising with employers, occupational health, human resources and job centre staff.
The post holder must be able to use high level communication skills to establish therapeutic relationships with people who have a complex range of difficulties. There will also be various administration tasks involved on a day-to-day basis and computer proficiency is needed as documentation is electronic.
This post is an integral part of the team and is essential to the delivery of a specialist vocational rehabilitation service for people living with an acquired brain injury.

Essential criteria
RQF Level 3 health or care related qualification Level 2 functional skills Care Certificate Once employed, the Healthcare Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship, as well as statutory and mandatory in-house training Good level of education to GCSE standard Grade C GCSE or equivalent in English NVQ level 3 in Health Care or equivalent level 3 qualification in relevant topic Current driving licence with access to a car for work DBR – Enhanced level of disclosure

Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting and/or working with people with a brain injury, neurological diagnosis, special needs, or learning disability Experience of a role in Healthcare at Band 3 level allied health professional or equivalent Experience of managing a caseload, to support clients to develop skills to overcome barriers due to their disabilities
Desirable criteria
Previously worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant / Job Coach / Support Worker / Personal Assistant Experience of training others in practical skills Experience of working with external organisations to support people to manage a range of meaningful roles and activities
