Main duties of the job

Support with holistic and evidence-based assessments

Contribute to Multi-professional assessment and formulation of the needs of child and young person

Work closely with families and the education and social care systems to empower them to help the child / young person to achieve their goals.

The role will assist the registered nursing staff and other health professionals to deliver a wide range of nursing interventions including the treatment of multiple chronic conditions, learning disability, autism and social vulnerability.

Job responsibilities

To support the assessment of children and young people with intellectual disabilities

Hold a caseload of patients and to be supervised by a registered Nurse

Multi-Disciplinary Team working with the entire Learning Disability Community Team to deliver holistic, evidence based, assessments and interventions

Deliver, under supervision, specific therapeutic interventions to meet the physical, emotional and psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals and carers.

Essential

Understanding of the needs and difficulties of children with intellectual disabilities Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload Ability to work on own initiative Ability to recognise own limitations in the context of the nursing associate role Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans Ability to participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register. Completion of Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.

Desirable

Understanding requirements for NMC professional Revalidation

Experience

Essential

Experience of working with individuals in emotional distress and / or behavioural challenges

Experience of working with children Experience of working with families
