Ashurst ward is a 11-bedded male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse Associate with a caring, non-judgmental, and inclusive attitude, who is committed to the delivery of safe, high-quality care. Experience in an acute setting would be an advantage but is not essential as we will provide you with all the training required.

Main duties of the job

You will assist our dedicated members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in implementing and evaluating individual care plans by working alongside the patient to support their recovery journey. Your duties will also include actively supporting individual clients in engaging with their local community and reducing social isolation.

* Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing initiative and promoting new ideas on how to improve the service

Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register. Completion of Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.

Desirable criteria

Essential criteria

Ability to work well in a team. Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload. Ability to work on own initiative. Ability to recognise own limitations in the context of the nursing associate role. Detailed knowledge and understanding of appropriate procedures and treatment plans. Ability to participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities. Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to Quality Improvement. Manage the boundaries of the patient / associate nurse relationship effectively, and to always behave professionally. Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate trainees, other learners and care support workers as required within clinical settings.

Interpersonal skills

Essential criteria

Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication with patients, relatives, carers and all members of multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to work with patients from a diverse range of religious, cultural, and social backgrounds to meet their needs.. All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
