The Oxford Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) Service provides multidisciplinary cardiology care and genetic counselling for those families at risk of or affected by Inherited Cardiac Conditions

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Band 4 Genomic Associate to join our team. Your main role will be to support the team with collecting family history and medical information from patients under supervision of the Cardiac Genetic Counsellors and Inherited Cardiac Conditions nurses. You should have an excellent telephone manner, organisational and communication skills, experience in a caring role and an ability to work autonomously. Genetics and/or cardiology education or experience is an asset, however appropriate training will be provided.

**The main duties of the role are to**:

- Assist the high quality Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service in providing a high standard of care at regional specialist level covering Oxfordshire and surrounding counties and wider.
- Aid the timely management of individuals and families referred to the Inherited Cardiac Conditions service by gathering family history and medical information, under supervision of the Cardiac Genetic Counsellors and Inherited Cardiac Conditions nurses.
- Assist in the provision of information and support to patients referred to the Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service.

The Inherited Cardiac Conditions team a growing and supportive team with close links with research and a forward-thinking mindset. We are a close team consisting of genetic counsellors, specialist nurses, cardiologists, a geneticist and administration staff. We support flexible working and are passionate about the OUH Trust vision of ‘Delivering Compassionate Excellence’.

Oxford is a beautiful, lively and historic city with many outdoor activities available in the surrounding Cotswolds. It is an exciting time to be involved in genetics and genomics in the NHS and this post allows the opportunity to work in a genomics role in an experienced mainstream setting.

The post holder will provide clinical assistance, as appropriate, to the Genetic Counselling team including:

- arranging collection of blood and other samples
- assisting and leading (in defined areas) of cardiac risk assessment
- preparing letters to patients for non face to face assessments
- liaising with national/international clinical genetics services when needed
- providing sensitive telephone contact with patients to elicit further history
- using family history software
