Job summary
To provide a qualified clinical psychology service to the Adult Autism Diagnostic Service which provides assessment and diagnosis for people who are suspected of being autistic. The post holder would provide highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions as part of the diagnostic pathway as well as opportunities to help develop pre and post diagnostic interventions and signposting as required. There will be opportunities to engage with consultation work with colleagues in wider services across the trust. This would include offering advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to psychologists and therapists who do not have a specialism in neurodiversity, and non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist psychological assessments of service users referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the person's care as part of the diagnostic pathway.
To be involved in the development and implementation of pre and post diagnostic interventions supporting the service-users based upon current research and best practice. This will be based on evidence-based assessment, formulation and lead to recommendations for the individual moving forwards.
About us
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
