Launceston Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a Patient Advisor to become part of our amazing team

Our Patient Advisors are at the heart of the Practice, theright candidate will play a key role in supporting our patient population andwork closely with all members of the practice including our GPs, team of nurses andother healthcare professionals.

You will aidthe Practice Team and project a positive, professional, and friendly image topatients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Job Type: Part Time ( Hours a week)

Schedule: Monday - Friday. Saturdays are additional hours worked on a rota basis.

Working Pattern: Shifts will vary between the hours of 08:00 and 18:30.

Main duties of the job

Receive incomingtelephone calls, answering general enquiries and transfer or document calls andmessages as appropriate. Assist andsignpost patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional ina courteous, efficient, and effective way. Book appointmentsand telephone consultations for patients. Undertake avariety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of thePractice. Facilitateeffective communication between patients, members of the primary healthcareteam, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies. Organise requestsfor ambulances, patient transport for outpatient visits. Be adaptable and able to prioritise taskswhilst working as part of a team in a busy, pressured environment. To be flexible and provide cover forcolleagues on annual leave or sickness, including early and late shifts. Work alongside community nursingteam and other health care professionals. Amend patient records to show change ofcontact details onto the clinical system. Ensure the reception area is adequatelystocked with stationary, specimen bottles, forms. Attend regular practice and reception meetingsto discuss the running of the surgery and services provided as well as anyother meetings as required. To undertake any other duties that may bereasonably required by the Practice.

About us

We are a busy, committed team working together in a recently extendedand refurbished Practice in Launceston, close to the beautiful beaches of thenorth coast of Cornwall and surrounded by moorland countryside. The successful candidate will work within the support team to the GPs,already comprising of a Nurse Practitioner, Minor Illness Nurse and 6 Paramedics,in addition to our Nurses and HCAs. We have 6 Partners and 8 Salaried GPs (includingremote GPs) with very experienced Management, IT, Reception, and Administrationsupport. Additional allied professionals who work within our team are ourClinical Psychologists, Pharmacist, Physiotherapists and SocialPrescriber. We are also proud to be atraining practice.

To be flexible and provide cover forcolleagues on annual leave or sickness including early and late shifts. Liaise and communicate with community nursingteam and other health care professionals. Registration of new patients according to thepractice catchment area onto the system. Amend patient records to show change ofcontact details onto the clinical system. Ensure the reception area is adequatelystocked with stationary, specimen bottles, forms and flag to appropriate personwhen running low. Attend regular practice and reception meetingsto discuss the running of the surgery and services provided as well as anyother meetings as required. To attend appropriate training as arranged. To undertake any other duties that may bereasonably required by the Practice. Afteradditional training to work as PA to Duty GP on a rota basis liaising with theon-call doctors to organise visit allocation and ensure clinics run smoothly,contact patients who need follow up appointments and organise transport/urgentambulances when required. Afteradditional training to work as Nurse Receptionist on a rota basis liaising withthe nursing team, GPs and district nurses, processing and checking all samplesare correct and ready for the courier each morning and preparing appropriatedocumentation.
