Job summary

This role supports, helps develop and manage education and training across our specialist areas: Orthopaedics, Plastics, Vascular and Major Trauma. Our Clinical Educator Team currently exists of one band 6 Clinical Educator and a Band 7 Clinical Educator Lead. We are seeking a dynamic, forward thinking and motivated band 6 to join our team.

This is a pivotal post for nurse education in clinical practice, so clinical credibility is essential. You must be a registered nurse with a recognized teaching qualification who is passionate about high standards of patient care. You must have exceptional communication skills, be able to demonstrate initiative and act as a positive role model for all grades of staff across the CSU.

Main duties of the job

The post holders responsibilities consist of a range of core teaching duties which include but not limited to:

- Co-ordination, delivery and development of teaching sessions at our specialist Study Days

- Skills based practical sessions

- Clinical skills teaching for both undergraduate and post graduate staff members

- To assess feedback and respond to incidents by formulating learning bursts and simulated activities

- Attend senior meetings with Ward Managers, Matrons and Head of Nursing and take forward elements of Clinical learning environment strategy supporting processes and transformation in line with the education plan

Job responsibilities

The Jobholder will play an essential rolesupporting Nursing and Midwifery (including ODP) education by facilitatingeducation, training and practice development withinLeeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The job holder will facilitate the development ofclinical staff both registered and unregistered.

The job holder will support the assessment of thequality of clinical and other practice learning environments, and implementinterventions for improvement. The job holder will support mentors /assessorsand clinical professional development for preceptorship.

The job holder will support the development ofclinical practice mentors and key trainers, providing supervision throughon-site support and continuous professional development activities.

The job holder will support the development ofinterdisciplinary and whole service working.As a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice anddelivery of high quality, effective and efficient care.

3. JOB DIMENSION

Tosupport, educate and develop registered and unregistered staff in theirclinical role and competencies in order to deliver high quality evidence basedcare for service users.

The post holder willcontribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of education andtraining of registered and unregistered nursing staff.

Theywill work in collaboration with the senior management team to maintain andproject the vision and objectives of the service and ensure that they areembedded in practice.

Theywill identify and celebrate good practice and share with local and Trust teams.

Thepost holder will lead by example, will be responsible for disseminating goodpractice and actively challenging assumptions, practice and performance whereappropriate.
