Job Title:Deputy Clinical Lead

Service/Department: Chatterbug Speech and Language Therapy

Accountable/Responsible to:Clinical Lead

Staff Accountable to Postholder:CALS, SLTs, Senior SLTs

Hours: Full-time and part time considered. Full time is 40hrs per week [Monday to Friday] 0900hrs to 1730hrs

At Chatterbug, our team comprises two essential components: the business team and the clinical team, which includes a diverse group of Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) with varying skills and experience, along with Communication and Language Specialists (CALS).

**The challenge**

Since our establishment in 2008, Chatterbug has earned a reputation for providing high-quality, client-focused care. With speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) on the rise, our profession must evolve to effectively meet the needs of our service users. In this context, we are seeking a forward-thinking SLT to join our team, collaborating with the Clinical Lead (CL) and Business team to build upon our existing achievements and continuously push the boundaries to address our clients' evolving needs.

**Brief Job Description**:

- Support the CL to develop, oversee and evaluate the clinical services provided by our team to a wide range of clinical groups and commissioning arrangements
- Assess and diagnose a range of Speech and Language conditions and participate in and support multidisciplinary assessment and diagnosis of children/ young people with a range of Speech, Language and communication difficulties
- Provide high-quality support and supervision to junior staff, including providing second opinions.
- To proactively support the growth and development of Chatterbug by representing the organisation at a local/national level.
- To actively seek Knowledge/New research and develop new initiatives to support our innovation agenda

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Clinical**
- Assess and diagnose children with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- To have a specialist/advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in at least one area of SLCN for example Early Years or Speech Sound Disorders (other areas may be considered)
- Work alongside and support the CL to develop, oversee and evaluate the full range of therapeutic services provided by Chatterbug
- To contribute highly specialist knowledge to multi and uni disciplinary teams to ensure a client focused assessment and approach to treatment
- Represent the service at health and education panels where required
- Provide specialist assessment and advice on optimising the client’s communicative environment taking into consideration the communication skills of parents / guardians, carers and other professionals
- To provide specialist clinical advice, support and second opinions for therapists and other professionals working with children with a range of SLCN including multiple and/or complex communication needs,
- Take a specialist lead within the team, offering case discussions, joint assessments, joint intervention and supporting joint therapy programmes as appropriate
- Develop and implement specialist speech and language therapy treatment and programmes and to measure and evaluate outcomes
- Confidently use and monitor/evaluate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures e.g. TOMS and RISK Matrix
- Participate and represent Chatterbug as part of tribunal requests, including writing expert reports and attending hearings
- Undertake medico legal assessments within your own field of specialism and wider context of SLCN as appropriate

**Communication**
- To employ excellent communication skills both verbal and written
