The successful candidate will be supported to develop their career and flourish as a valued member of the psychology staff group, working closely with the Head of Therapies for CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant Lead for Psychology role is a newly created post focusing on the development of the existing Psychology offer across CNWL Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We are looking for a motivated and committed Psychologist who is passionate to lead the development of psychological therapies and the therapy pathways within a highly specialised psychology service to children, young people and their parents/carers/families across 5 London boroughs, comprising service users from diverse backgrounds. Each of these areas has its own local CAMHS team as well as specialised in patient units and urgent care provision. The successful postholder will supervise and work closely with Psychology Leads in each of these areas and be responsible for the good clinical governance, quality and appropriateness of the work of psychologists in CAMHS including supervision and training. Contributing expert knowledge and consulting on complex cases, the Lead Psychologist for CAMHS will also directly contribute to the development of their colleagues. There will be opportunities to lead on trust wide projects and work across a range of specialities and to drive forward and manage relevant service evaluation, time-limited projects and audits as directed by the Head of Therapies

Qualifications

Essential

Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC Qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training dependent on professional specialism, counselling, clinical, forensic, health psychology) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

Post qualification training in assessing and working with children with neurodiversity and / or learning disabilities

Experience

Essential

Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist under supervision in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children and young people with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training Post-qualification experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities Experience of proposing and implementing service development projects that impact beyond own team and service area
