Main duties of the job

The Consultant Lead for Psychotherapy role is a newly created post focusing on the development of the existing Psychotherapy offer across CNWL Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and we are looking for well rounded and experienced practitioners to join our are looking for a motivated and committed Psychotherapist who is passionate to lead the development of therapy pathways within a highly specialised service to children, young people and their parents/carers/families across 5 London boroughs, comprising service users from diverse backgrounds. The successful postholder will supervise and work closely with Therapy Leads in each of these areas and be responsible for the good clinical governance, quality and appropriateness of the work of psychotherapists in CAMHS including supervision and training. Contributing expert knowledge and consulting on complex cases, the Lead Psychotherapist for CAMHS will also directly contribute to the development of their colleagues. There will be opportunities to lead on trust wide projects and work across a range of specialities and to drive forward and manage relevant service evaluation, time-limited projects and audits as directed by the Head of Therapies

The postholder will need to be a registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with the ACP.

Responsibilities for team or service clinical functioning To work with Consultant Leads and Team Managers of CAMHS services and with leads in otherrelevant service areas of CNWL and with external agencies to plan and deliver services that areintegrated around the needs of service users. To take a lead in ensuring CAMHS deliver accessible and acceptable services to diverse localcommunities. To be proactive in challenging discrimination and support the development of culturallycompetent services. Support fidelity to child & adolescent psychotherapy model through supporting managers andCAPT Leads across CNWL CAMHS boroughs to implement effective recruitment. Be involved in the recruitment of all Lead Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists in all boroughsacross CNWL CAMHS, in short listing and interviewing, advising on JDs & PS and adverts, liaisingand organizing ACP representatives to join interview panels as needed (all 8B and above). When Leads are in post, support them in recruitment, advising on process for ACP Bulletinadvertising for all Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy posts in CNWL CAMHS boroughs, andsupport issues of recruitment and retention as needed. Provide leadership to support staff engagement with CNWL CAMHS Service linemanagement/objectives. Contribute to quality improvement and encourage CAPT Leads to contribute to QI projectsacross CNWL CAMHS. Provide governance of CAPT training placements by ensure that arrangements for the provisionof HEE funded 4-year clinical training placements of Band 6 Child & Adolescent Psychotherapistsin doctoral training are in place and available to all boroughs across CNWL CAMHS, includingclose liaison with the relevant training schools and oversight of all boroughs to maintain fairequity between training schools in terms of CNWL placements offered.

Qualifications

Essential

oMasters level preclinical training at an Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists recognised training school. oPost - Postgraduate training (doctoral equivalent) in clinical Child and Adolescent psychotherapy at a training school accredited by the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy or Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists Statement of Equivalence oCompletion of further post-qualification specialist training oTraining in supervision of other Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.

Experience

Essential

oSubstantial experience of working as a qualified clinical Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist oExperience of professional management of qualified clinical Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists. oExperience of multi professional service development oExperience of multi professional service development oExperience of specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of children and adolescents and their parents as a full member of a multidisciplinary team located in community, primary care, outpatient or inpatient setting oExperience of working with a wide variety of children and adolescents and their parents across the whole age range and with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity and complexity oExperience of working in a multi disciplinary/ multi agency team. oExperience of teaching, training and clinical supervision of other Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists oExperience of the application of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy in different cultural contexts.
