Senior Addiction Liaison Nurse-Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services

Greenock, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

This is a fixed term position until 1st August 2025.

The shift pattern for this position is to be confirmed.

An exciting fix term or secondment opportunity has arisen to join Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service as part of the Addiction Liaison Outreach Team.

Before applying for this position as a secondment, please contact your current line manager in the first instance.

The role of the team is to work with people with complex alcohol and drug problems and associated risks who typically require more in-depth alcohol and drug assessment, specific care and treatment, specialist engagement, and assertive care to manage higher levels of risk. The team provide assertive outreach, harm reduction interventions and support to promote engagement in treatment. This includes support to people recently released from prison, discharged from hospital, high risk crisis situations and following Non-Fatal Over Dose (NFOD) from illicit substances.

As an integral member of this nurse lead team the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the Addiction Liaison nurse role.

The post holder will be a key link between Acute Hospitals, Liaison Psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services (ADRS) and wider care providers including Primary Care, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Homeless Services and other local HSCP and ADP services including 3rd sector and voluntary organisations.

Applicants should be a registered nurse with level 1 NMC registration. They should have at least 2 years addiction experience or 2 years community experience at band 5 and be educated to a minimum of degree level or equivalent.

Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service can be found within the Candidate Information Packs.
