We are a friendly, supportive, patient-centred and forward thinking GP surgery providing care to over 7,300 patients in the Copeland area. Our team includes two GP partners and three salaried GPs as well as a pharmacist, paramedic, care coordinator, four nurses, 2 HCAs and three ANPs. Our clinicians are supported by an experienced administration team.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

Adhere to DHSSPS and NMCguidelines for practice requirements and standards.

To develop and provide care and treatment for patients requiring interventions for conditions such as asthma and COPD.

Undertake screening anddiagnostic procedures, promoting and being involved in Health Educationactivity

Receive and refer patients whenappropriate

Update the patients computerrecords by coding activities appropriately and at the time of the consultationusing templates where appropriate. Comply with computer based informationrequirements

Ensure respiratory evidence-basedcare is provided to agreed standards

Produce accurate, contemporaneousand complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation,policies and procedures

Prioritise, organise and manageown workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality

Overview of your organisation

Mansion House Surgery is a 7,300 patient training practice based in the centre of Whitehaven. The building is a Georgian built town house which has been structurally modified to provide clinical space and facilities. Whitehaven is an historic seaside town with pockets of deprivation which has experienced regeneration developments over the last few years.

Job responsibilities

Job summary :

Working underthe direct supervision of the lead practice nurse and strictly in accordancewith specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Practice Nurse willassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribedprogrammes of patient care.

Thepost holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effectivenursing services to the whole practice population. As a member of the clinicalnursing team the post holder is accountable for his/her own practice. To workindependently, supported by the clinical team within the practice they willdeliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supportingpatients to be healthy and specifically monitoring asthma and COPD as a long-term healthcondition.

Key Duties andResponsibilities

Thepost holder will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meetthe needs of patients, supporting the delivery of both drug and non-drug basedtreatment plans following local and national policies and procedures whilstmanaging their own workload to deliver the practice priorities.

Clinically,the focus of the role is to undertake clinical activities within the clinicalteam which are directed at respiratory support for patients with conditions such as asthma and COPD. As an autonomouspractitioner you will be responsible for the care delivered, demonstratingcritical thinking and skills in clinical decision making.

Ensureand maintain effective communication with individuals and groups within thepractice environment and with external stakeholders.
