About this opportunity

In November last year, we shared our refreshed strategy and vision for Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I) - to become a customer centric and digital first business in order to be a Top 3 provider in the intermediated pensions and protection markets. Following the acquisition of Embark in 2022, Scottish Widows have improved our proposition and streamlined our technology to allow us to be easier to work with and promote better customer outcomes. As we move from transformation to growth, we're investing in the capabilities in our Distribution function, to grow our market leading team. These capabilities allow us to build and develop truly strategic relationships with advisers and partners, delivering this transformation to the market.

Reporting into the Head of Corporate Partnerships, you'll be responsible for owning strategic relationships with the UK’s major protection intermediary businesses on behalf of Scottish Widows to develop mutually beneficial relationships and grow profitable business volumes. You'll be expected to develop and deliver strategic plans to drive business and build robust relationships with key personnel, securing panel positions for SW Protection where appropriate.

Responsible for the overall management of a team of Business Development Managers and Business Development Account Managers, you'll be required to ensure your team establishes relationships with their targeted protection businesses.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Your focus will be on profitability and quality of new business delivery as well as managing persistency and ultimately driving the delivery of market share targets across protection products. Develop and drive new distribution models to grow revenue across multiple channels. This includes collaborating closely with the Halifax Intermediaries team to identify and execute the opportunities in this space. Understand the key influencers in each firm, identifying business strengths, weaknesses, goals and opportunities as well as understanding the decision-making behaviour of each selected strategic partner. Maintain detailed account plans and contact matrices to ensure appropriate senior relationships are established and maintained as well as building strategic business plans and delivering these whilst adhering to our risk management framework. Ensuring your BDM/BDAM team build and maintain the same. Work collaboratively with our Intermediary Sales function to ensure centrally built business plans are cohesive with holistic accounts across our segmentation model to drive a market leading adviser experience. Own issues at time-of-service recovery and have the strength of relationship to hold the line on our commercial interests. Operate an effective Client Management system and robust sales process and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of our sales model to effectively account manage existing relationships and to project manage new accounts and on boarding. Maintain a detailed understanding of the market and industry developments, providing partners (internal & external) with regular and relevant market insights to make valuable contributions to their business.
