Numeracy Support Assistant

Location: Preston 

Position: Full-Time Numeracy Support Assistant (KS2) 

Hours: 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM, Monday to Friday 

Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour 

Are you passionate about helping young learners excel in mathematics? Do you have a keen interest in supporting numeracy development in Key Stage 2? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Numeracy Support Assistant at a welcoming primary school in Preston.

Role Overview:

As a Numeracy Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the mathematical skills of children in Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11). Working closely with class teachers, you will provide targeted support in areas such as arithmetic, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Your efforts will be crucial in helping students build confidence and competence in numeracy.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Assist students in developing numeracy skills through one-on-one and small group sessions.

-          Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective mathematics lessons.

-          Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed.

-          Create a positive and encouraging learning environment, helping students to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

-          Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistent and integrated numeracy support across the curriculum.

Requirements:

-          Experience working with children, ideally within an educational setting.

-          A good understanding of numeracy development in Key Stage 2.

-          Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.

-          Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping children succeed.

-          Relevant qualifications or experience in education, teaching assistance, or mathematics are desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
