NHS Sutton Talking Therapies (formally known as IAPT) provides primary mental health care for people aged 18yrs+ with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service including budget and resource management to ensure Key Performance Indicator (KPI's) targets are achieved. You will require exceptional organisational skills, an ability to filter demands and prioritise effectively, with a good grasp of what can be appropriately delegated. An aptitude for problem solving whilst maintaining an eye on the strategic direction of the service is important. Experience of working within a Talking Therapies service or knowledge and enthusiasm about the Talking Therapies programme would be an advantage.

Job responsibilities

Communication

To communicate effectively with staff through regular briefings and provide opportunities for involvement in service development and delivery.

To communicate policies and procedures within the service and externally to ensure effective understanding and implementation.

To maintain effective and helpful relationships with patients, their relatives, friends and carers.

To maintain effective relationships with members of the Trust, and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

Service Development and Review

To contribute to the development and evaluation of recovery-based services on the basis of assessed need, local and national quality standards and target frameworks.

To work with patients, carers and other local stakeholders to tackle health inequalities.

To ensure all service developments and commissioned services function within the parameters outlined by clinical governance requirements.

To participate in the development and implementation of Trust policy within the service area and take an active role as a member of the management team in Business Planning and Service Level Agreements.

To ensure safeguarding vulnerable adults and children policy and protocols are adhered to.

Management of Resources and Performance

To use integrated management information systems (Pulse data warehouse) to ensure resources are managed effectively.

To ensure teams are recording all required clinical information and activity using RiO and IAPTus.

To undertake regular skill mix review to ensure the workforce structure is designed to meet service demands, including regular reporting returns to Health Education England around Talking Therapies trainee requirements

To apply structured management for safe and effective use of all resources within budget and within legislative frameworks.

To ensure timely provision of information to inform monthly and quarterly performance reports.

To support the Talking Therapies service to attain nationally and locally set access, waits and recovery rate KPIs
