Job summary

As we expand our pathway we are looking for SpecialistPractitioner and Supervisors to join our Mental Health Support Teams pathway. Wehave opportunities in localities across the county including; our EastDevon team, our Mid Devon team and our South Hams team . All roles we have available can be full orpart time - however the South Hams role is for 4 days per week.

We are seeking supervisors with either a core qualification (teaching,social worker, nursing, accredited counsellor etc) or with a CWP/EMHPqualification alongside substantial experience within the role. We are lookingfor applicants to have substantial experience of working with children andadolescents within an education and/or health setting.

The role will include a part-time 1-year Post-Graduate Supervisortraining course at the University of Exeter, a requirement for any applicantswho don't already have the qualification. The Universitytraining is fully funded and successful candidates are released from theservice to attend the course.

Successful candidates will provide assessments and hold a small caseloadof children and adolescents with mild to moderate emotional and mental healthdifficulties, delivering evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions, employingthe principles underpinning the national Children and Young Peoples MentalHealth programme and the Whole School Approach alongside supervising a mix ofEducation mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Childrens WellbeingPractitioner (CWPs).

Main duties of the job

You will need to build relationships with key stakeholders ineducational provisions, to introduce and develop the Whole School Approach,alongside EMHPs. You will also provide some low-intensity interventions withina small caseload.

Having the ability to adapt communication and intervention styles tomeet individual needs is important and you will have knowledge of childdevelopment and child safeguarding procedures.

Using both evidence-based practice and routine outcome measures, youwill use a strength-based approach to work collaboratively with young people,in line with key CYP-IAPT principles.

Key areas of focus for the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) Supervisorwill be:

- EMHP and CWP Support and Supervision

- Delivering early, low-intensity interventions in accordance with theevidence base

- Building and maintaining relationships with the Designated MentalHealth Lead and other key professionals in our partner schools

- Supporting the development of the MHST and CWP service

- Building positive relationships with our colleagues in wider CAMHS andother key agencies.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will deliver high quality comprehensive mental health supportand supervision. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus onproviding expert assessment and evidence-based treatment for children and youngpeople with mild to moderate mental health difficulties and theirparents/carers. The post holder will provide supervision and consultation to schoolstaff within specific education provisions.

The post holder will contribute to the clinical leadership of the team,providing supervision and caseload management to the Education Mental HealthPractitioners, Child Wellbeing Practitioners and trainees within the team.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision and caseloadmanagement of the EMHPs and CWPs within their team. If the successful candidatedoesn't hold the required supervision qualification, then we will provide thetraining at Exeter University and the post holder will be released from serviceto attend the training, with some additional dedicated study time to ensure thesuccessful completion of the supervisor course. We will also ensure that yourworkload is manageable to complete the training alongside the role. Thesupervision training usually runs for a year from either September or Januaryand we usually have between 2-6 supervisors on each training course. Followingsuccessful completion of the supervisor course, the post holder will receive apost-graduate certificate in supervision and this is fully funded. Theuniversity timetable usually consists of 1 or 2 teaching days per week to startwith and this then reduces down to 1 teaching day per month with assignmentsrelated to the supervision of EMHPs and CWPs throughout the year. Thesupervision course will also provide an overview of the interventions we offerand shadowing opportunities will be provided as part of your induction.

A professional qualification at degree level or equivalent (Psychological profession, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Social Worker etc.) or successful completion of the post-graduate EMHP (or CWP) CYP-IAPT training. Active registration or appropriate accreditation with professional body (NMC, HCPC, BACP, BABCP) or registration with the appropriate body when this is possible for Li-CBT post- graduate qualifications. Recognised qualification in evidenced based therapeutic intervention for children/young people and their families/carers Completion of parallel IAPT supervisor training programme within first year of taking on the post if this is not already in place Training to level 2 in Safeguarding Adults and level 3 in Children and Young People: roles and competencies for Health Care staff
