Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant Position Available in Chorlton

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Chorlton. This full-time position is set to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will leverage your background in psychology to support students' educational and emotional development. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Providing one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them to engage with their studies and manage any emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assisting teachers in the delivery of lessons, supporting classroom management, and facilitating a positive learning environment.
  • Behavioural Interventions: Utilizing your psychology knowledge to assist in implementing behavioural intervention plans and support strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Mentoring and Guidance: Acting as a mentor for students, offering guidance and support to help them navigate their academic and personal challenges.
  • Pastoral Care: Building strong, trusting relationships with students, providing pastoral care and promoting their overall well-being.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of student progress and behaviour, and reporting this information to teaching staff and the SENCO.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Assisting with or leading extra-curricular activities that support students’ emotional and social development.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their educational journey.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An empathetic and patient approach to working with students.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to addressing the needs of students.
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in an educational setting, is desirable but not essential.
