Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join the Adult Community SLT Service.

This would be a great opportunity for a newly qualified speech and language therapist to begin their career in SLT or experienced Band 5 therapist looking to change speciality to adult acquired neurological conditions in a community setting.

Main duties of the job

Assessment and treatment for clients with communication and swallowing conditions from a range of diagnostic groups, including progressive neurological conditions, stroke, care of the elderly and others.

Deliver high level, quality care and evidence-based interventions in line with local and national guidance within identified clinical area

Plan, provide and evaluate interventions within an identified clinical area

Deliver SLT intervention in both autonomous and multidisciplinary working

Participate in the delivery of service specific training as required

This post would suit a newly qualified SLT, or experienced Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist who has an interest in working with clients with a range of clinical conditions in a community setting.

The Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Team serves the Central, North and South areas of the county of Norfolk. We aim to provide a patient focused, clinically driven service to ensure clear delivery and development of services for the specific populations we serve.

Essential

RCSLT recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy HCPC Registration Membership of RCSLT

Essential

Basic knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions for acquired communication and swallowing disorders. Able to demonstrate functional understanding of the principles of equality and diversity within the context of SLT practice. Good communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal Able to work within an interdisciplinary team Able to develop the confidence to work independently and recognise when to seek advice.

Post graduate dysphagia training Awareness of principles of clinical governance and audit Able to organise workload and manage time

Undergraduate clinical experience in adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders

Clinical experience as a Speech & Language Therapist xperience/observation of instrumental swallowing assessments VFS/FEES caseload management experience experience working in adult community setting Evidence of study/research around an area of clinical interest
