A fabulous opportunity has arisen to join the acute inpatient clinical psychology team based at the Radbourne Unit, with opportunities to also work with our team at the Hartington Unit. 

This post is for anyone who has an interest in working in acute care and skills in delivering psychological approaches to people in distress. This post would allow you to develop your skills in delivering psychological interventions to patients who are admitted to our acute inpatient wards. 

All work undertaken will be under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who enjoys working in a trauma-informed acute inpatient environment and is looking to enhance their skills and experience, by working alongside the existing inpatient Clinical Psychologists, already based at the Radbourne Unit.

There will be opportunities to carry out direct work with patients in one to one and group settings as well as indirect work such as notes reviews to inform formulation. 

Main duties of the job

This is a month fixed term post within an inpatient clinical psychology service, with the possibility for extending for another months depending on securing additional funding.

Main duties will include assisting the Clinical Psychologists at the Radbourne Unit.

Co-facilitating group sessions. Reviewing notes from a psychologically informed perspective. Supporting the psychology team to complete assessments and formulations. Undertaking brief psychological interventions with service users and carers such as psychoeducation and stabilisation work. Attending meetings to contribute to psychological understanding. Assisting in the provision of trauma informed care training to teams linked with the service. Undertaking projects relating to service development and evaluation. Supporting literature reviews.

Essential criteria

Good honours degree (2:1 or above) in Psychology Eligibility for the Graduate membership of the BPS

Desirable criteria

Further post-graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis

Experience

Work experience in a formal care setting of at least 6 months Work in an acute inpatient setting

Desirable criteria
