We are looking for a Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioners based across Devon in our Eating Disorder Pathway.

In this important role, you will use your skills and experience as a mental health practitioner to deliver high-quality care, developing and sustaining relationships across agencies, and work as a core member of a multi-disciplinary team. We offer early specialist assessment and intervention using evidence-based approaches to young people up to the age of 18 and their family/carers.

You will be working alongside experienced staff in family therapy clinics and will have the opportunity to develop skills working with young people on an individual basis. You will be offered regular supervision and support.

Main duties of the job

The individual recruited to this post will be take an active role within our cohesive MDT to provide specialist assessment and treatment for young people with clinical eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

You will be an experienced and qualified CAMHS professional (RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy). The ability to adapt communication and intervention style to meet the individual need is important and you will have knowledge of child development and child protection procedures.

You will be responsible for providing therapeutic intervention that is strengths-focused, evidence-based, and tailored to meet the needs of the child/young person and their family/carer. Supervision of more junior staff and trainees is expected to be part of your role as you share your skills and knowledge with those around you.

CFHD provides integrated care andtreatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure wedeliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of ourservices, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with ourservice users and communities.

CFHD works closely with our localuniversities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where wesupport students in clinical training placements and in addition support ourown staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatmenthas been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and theirfamilies/carers.

The post holder will deliver high quality comprehensive mental health services. The roleinvolves managing a defined caseload with a focus on providing expert assessment andevidence-based treatment for children and young people with complex mental healthdifficulties and their parents/carers. Collaborative working with a wide range of statutoryand non-statutory agencies is central to this role.

The post holder will contribute to the multi-disciplinary approach of the team, providingintegrated healthcare for children across Children and Family Health Devon. Bringingprofessional expertise, skills and knowledge to multi-disciplinary team work, the postholder will work with, and offer supervision/consultation/advice to others. With a focuson providing high quality, safe and compassionate care to children/young people thepost holder will engage in team and service development including participating in audit,evaluation and review.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

A professional mental health qualification RMN, Social Work Degree, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT, or equivalent Active registration as with the appropriate professional body NMC, HCPC

Desirable

Recognised qualification in evidenced based therapeutic, mental health interventions for children/young people and their families/carers Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism Clinical Supervision qualification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential

An understanding of the Mental Health Act/ Mental Health Capacity Act requirements. An understanding of child development Understanding of child protection and the importance of multi-agency work for children and families in the community Understanding of CYP-IAPT principles including the use of evidence based therapies and Routine Outcome Measures Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with children/young people of all ages experiencing a wide range of mental health presentations. Ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals from various settings, sharing own professional knowledge, skills and expertise, whilst valuing the perspective of others. Able to produce well written reports. Key requirements as identified by young people participating in the development of our services: Demonstrate effective communication skills and experiences of using these with children, young people and families Knowledge and experience of gaining meaningful feedback from children, young people and families voice and inform meaningful change Experience of working in a person-centred way which shows you can demonstrate values that are important to children, young people and families Knowledge and understanding of what children, young people and families feel is important to them and their lives Able to recognise potential difficulties and participate in finding solutions Ability to assess and develop plans to manage risk and safeguard children. Able to plan creatively to maximise effectiveness of care plans, including complex multiagency care plans Able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage own time and that of the teams. Ability to work flexibly. Ability to be mobile across a geographical area in a timely manner and in accordance with service need. Computer literacy. Excellent clinical assessment skills. Ability to manage change in a positive manner. A willingness to use and learn IT Systems , Electronic Record Keeping and online video platforms used for therapy, professionals meetings or training.

Substantial experience of managing an extensive and complex caseload and working with children/young people presenting with a range of complex mental health presentations. Working within a community CAMHS mental health setting. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.
