Job summary

We have an opportunityfor a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic Family Therapist to join ourCAMHS Eating Disorders Team. This post is full-time and substantive.

Thisis an exciting time to join LPT CAMHS as a Family Therapist In recent yearsour numbers have grown and this is one of 12 Family Therapy posts, across arange of teams in CAMHS. You will be part of a vibrant professional group with good peer support and clinical supervision. In addition, while your core role will be to offer FamilyTherapy as a lone therapist, there are also opportunities to be part of FamilyTherapy Team and Screen Clinics.

Ideally youwill be an experienced and qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist withcurrent UKCP registration and have experience of working with complex mental health needs in community settings.

We would also welcome applications from candidates in the final year of their MSc training who would be interested in pursuing this as atraining role (NHS National T&Cs - Annex 21 arrangement) - please see the link in the supporting documents for details.

It is necessary for applicants to have a core mental healthprofession and to remain registered within that profession. We are nowaccepting applications from individuals whose core training is counselling,providing they meet AFT Training Requirements and have substantialexperience of working in CAMHS, including managing risk. Main duties of the job

The team currently consists of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, family therapy, child and adolescent psychotherapy, dietetic and occupational therapy staff who work closely with outpatient, inpatient and adult services.

Within the core team we offer early specialist assessment and intervention using evidence-based approaches to young people up to the age of 18 years old and their families.

The Role includes:

Providing Family Therapy-Anorexia Nervosa and Family Therapy-Bulimia Nervosa Providing specialised Systemic Psychotherapy Offering systemic advice, consultation, supervision and training to members of the MDT.

The Successful Candidate will:

Have the qualifications and experience as highlighted in the Person Specification. Have knowledge and expertise in child and adolescent mental health and the assessment and treatment of eating disorders and common co-morbidities. Preferably have experience in working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and a well-developed understanding of how such conditions may interact with eating disorders. Be interested in developing knowledge and skills in this specialist area alongside furthering your interest in providing consultation and supervision to a range of professionals within the MDT.

Qualifications

Essential

Qualification in relevant mental health / social welfare profession and demonstrable practice within that profession - please state length of experience. Masters level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy, accredited with UKCP. UKCP registration which is maintained through meeting relevant AFT CPD requirements. Continued registration with relevant organisation in relation to primary professional qualification.

Desirable

Systemic Supervisory Training. Post-qualification training in one or more additional specialised areas of therapeutic practice.

Experience

Essential

Substantial practice in relevant first profession Experience of working as a qualified family and systemic psychotherapist or newly qualified systemic psychotherapist with both substantial and significant previous relevant clinical experience and family therapy experience within the designated speciality where the post is located. Experience of specialist systemic assessment, formulation and intervention with clients. Experience of working with a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with a range of childhood and adult disorders at the acute and chronic stage. Experience of risk assessment and risk management. Experience of self-harm assessment and intervention with both individuals and their families

Desirable

Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for systemic care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan. Experience of teaching, training and supervision. Experience of the application of systemic psychotherapy in different cultural contexts.

Highly developed skills in using a wide variety of systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need within the designated service area. Knowledge of the systemic literature pertaining to the specialist areas relevant to the post including the evidence base for the systemic assessment and intervention. Highly developed skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Highly developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS. Highly developed skills in providing consultation to other professional groups. Knowledge of and highly specialist skill in using a wide variety of systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting. Ability to multi-task at different levels of context, while leading a systemic psychotherapy session requiring intense concentration and skills for using a one-way screen, video equipment and involving members from different professional background in service delivery simultaneously.
