Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work in an established Maternity Safeguarding team at Imperial NHS Healthcare Trust. This is a band 7 specialist post. This would be ideal for someone who has been a clinical midwife for at least 3-5 years and has a wealth of safeguarding experience with complex high risk women/pregnant people. You need to be able to manage your time effectively, adjusting various work commitments around each other alongside potentially developing safeguarding situations. This isn’t an easy job or for the faint hearted, however it is a job with a huge impact, potentially contributing to safety and well being of very vulnerable women, babies and their families. The team belives in contributing to social justice and equity as well as the highest standards for complex pregnant women in an inner London setting.

We are an integrated safeguarding team led by the Head of Safeguarding. The team covers; maternity, children’s, adults, domestic abuse and modern slavery. We very much Think Family Think Contextual Safeguarding In practise this means recognising, evaluating and thinking outside the box to consider saferguarding from every possible angle.

Based in the maternity safeguarding team, you will be part of a team that provides training, education, advice, and supervision. This role includes weekend working approximately one weekend day every 6-8 weeks. Currently the team is a Named Midwife with two band 7’s and one band 6 with admin support.The role will require you to work cross-sites gainign familiarity with the operational aspects of 2 recently rated CQC Outstanding maternity services.

Main duties of the job

Based in the maternity safeguarding team, you will be part of a team that provides training, education, advice, and supervision. Currently the team is a Named Midwife with two band 7’s and one band 6 with admin support. The role will require you to work cross-sites at Queen Charlotte's and St Mary's hospital.

This post would suit someone who has accumulated an extensive range of experience with pregnant clients and their families in both community and acute settings and is able to demonstrate high quality of safeguarding functionality. This includes understanding and assessing social risk towards children and in an adult safeguarding context. The ability to prioritise workload depending on urgency and deadline working. You will have a thorough understanding of the processes of Children's safeguarding in relation to pregnant women/people and their families. In particular confidence in attending various MDT and external meetings in relation to safeguarding. You will be confident at escalating cases within children’s safeguarding services as well as with other members of staff.
