Job Overview

We are excited to present a unique opportunity for a driven individual to advance their career as a Sonographer within our supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will engage in a CASE accredited Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Medical Ultrasound through a comprehensive training program that combines academic study at the university with hands-on clinical experience in the ultrasound department. Our experienced Sonographers are dedicated to facilitating your professional growth, and you will be paired with a supervisor who, along with the Clinical Lead Sonographers and NEL Sonography Practice Educators, will regularly evaluate your progress and set learning objectives throughout your training.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for completing a CASE accredited Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound and achieving a defined set of competencies through a combination of academic study, self-directed learning, and clinical placements. This training will prepare you for advancement into a Band 7 Sonographer position following the completion of the 12 or 24-month training period, depending on the chosen program.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Science or Health Care based undergraduate degree at 2:1 or higher
  • If the undergraduate degree is below a 2:1, evidence of further postgraduate study must be provided
  • Statutory registration with a regulatory body (such as HCPC or NMC)

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Clinical experience following the completion of the undergraduate qualification
  • Participation in an Ultrasound Taster Day and/or relevant work experience in an ultrasound department

Desirable Criteria

  • Completion of e-learning modules related to healthcare ultrasound
  • Experience in delivering challenging conversations to patients and their families
  • Supervisory or teaching experience
  • Involvement in research and audit activities

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Level 7 IELTS or equivalent if English is not the first language
  • Understanding of clinical governance principles
