Job summary

Support the development, delivery and promotion of an effective and robust clinical audit programme, ensuring that clinical audit projects within the programme conform to a quality improvement cycle and that clinical audit activity is accurately documented and recorded for assurance purposes.

To contribute to the provision of relevant and informative reports on clinical audit performance to the organisation, both at Business Unit/Directorate as well as Trust-wide.

The postholder will support the Trust's assurance processes around the implementation of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance and National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) requirements as well as contributing to future developmental work around clinical outcomes.

Lead on managing the Trust's processes for creating, ratifying and reviewing both written and video patient information.

Main duties of the job

To work closely with the specialty clinical audit leads to facilitate and support the development and implementation of a clinical audit programme within agreed business unit/specialty areas.

To facilitate the production of an annual programme of clinical audit topics.

To maintain awareness of any clinical audit requirements contained in national audit/governance initiatives which relate to the specialty/ies.

To work with a significant degree of autonomy, managing personal workload and determining priorities in the context of local and Trust-wide Clinical Audit Policy/Strategy.

To work closely with other clinical staff members on the design and conduct of clinical audits, quality improvement and service evaluations.

To actively monitor all registered clinical audit activity.

To analyse information using statistical techniques and prepare relevant and informative reports on clinical audit performance.

To manage independently the Trust's processes for creating, ratifying and reviewing both written and patient information.

Qualifications

Essential

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) Experience of clinical audit

Desirable

Post-graduate certificate level qualification in clinical audit or a related subject

Experience

Substantial and significant experience of facilitating and supporting clinical audit Experience of working with staff at all levels of an NHS organisation

Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of clinical audit processes, procedures, methodologies and statistical techniques Evidence of effective report writing skills

Skills

Ability to plan projects and guide clinical staff through the clinical audit process to an appropriate end point Excellent standard of numeracy, literacy and communication
