An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Cancer Team at the Queen Victoria Hospital on a 2 year fixed term contract.

The purpose of this data officer role is to support the Trust Cancer Services Team and clinical specialties to meet the additional data collection and data reporting requests, in alignment with national cancer standards and outcome measures. The post holder will monitor, input and collate data, with a focus on ensuring efficient, secure and sustainable use of data and information management approaches for systems and projects.

The role can either be full time (37.5 hours Monday - Friday) or part time with a minimum of 20 hours per week.

The data officer will sit within the cancer services team and facilitate data collection for suspected/ diagnosed cancer patients, collating and entering the information onto appropriate database(s). The post holder will have close and collaborative working relationships with the MDT coordinators and service managers to complete submission of data for the National Cancer Audits. The post holder will support development of data collection tools/ databases to meet the requirements of national, regional and local data requests. The role will require high attention to detail, ensuring data collection and data input is of high quality and accurate.

- Understanding and developing systems and datasets to meet data submission requirements, ensuring quality assurance of data processes
- Responsible for collecting, entering and reporting of cancer data for national, regional and local purposes
- Actively searching for missing data items, working with clinical and administrative teams
- Support cancer colleagues to update and audit data on the Somerset Cancer System (or other data collection systems)
- Assisting the cancer services data manager in preparing data and reports as required
- Undertaking data cleaning exercises, ensuring data is high quality, properly curated and robust
- Producing reports and analyses of data as required by the Trust, SSCA or regional NHSE team
