Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen as we are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner to work within our Community CAMHS East team. We are happy to receive applications from social workers, nurses or allied health profesisonals.

This MDT team support children and young people who are presenting with complex mental health difficulties in the moderate to severe range. The post holder will provide a high standard of care and offer avariety of specialist interventions under the Thrive framework, including family work and group work. We have regular opportunities for team away days and a regular meeting structure for peer support and clinical thinking.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with a range of professionals from a variety of different agencies including social care, acute care and a range of community and voluntary sector team work within the context of CAPA and CYP-IAPT and work closely with a range of colleagues in social care, schools and other partners. We are looking for a CAMHS Practitioner to compliment the skills of the existing team.

The post holder will offer mental health assessments and interventions to children, young people and their families.

The post holder will work closely with other members of the MDT

The role can be demanding but also highly rewarding so you will need to be someone who is motivated, resilient and passionate about working with this client group.

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for a caseload of complex assessment, treatment andconsultation work with children, adolescents and their families, withproblems of emotional, psychological or mental health difficulties

To operate as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing child and adolescent mental health services.

To work in ways which are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs offamilies from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious includes abilities to understand and offer therapeutic interventions to a variety of family forms including single parents, same sex couples and their families, extended families and people with mental health difficulties.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

RMN, RGN or RSCN Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology or its equivalent prior to 1996, as accredited by the BPS, or fully completed training as a V Counselling Psychologist) Systemic or Family Therapist (Masters/Doctoral level qualification with post-graduate qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession) Social Worker or recognised earlier equivalent qualification to practice such as CQSW, Dip Registration with HCPC/ BACP Evidence of CPD Specialist training in an appropriate area and knowledge of CAPA and CYP-IAPT CBT Therapist

Desirable

Further training/qualification in relevant area of practice. Family Therapy, Child Psychotherapy; CBT, Group Therapy; Counselling; Play V Therapy to Master's degree level or equivalent

Experience

Essential

Post qualification experience in a CAMHS team or related area, or several years experience prior to qualification, with experience of working with moderate to severe mental health problems and knowledge of a range of clinical interventions with children/adolescents and their carers/families. Experience of multi-disciplinary team working, and inter-agency collaboration Knowledge of child development, child and adolescent mental health and an understanding of a range of theoretical approaches Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision Good general knowledge of the literature and research concerning mental health interventions with children, particularly the clinical effectiveness of such interventions

Experience of service quality monitoring clinical audit, evaluative research, etc
