This role has been part of a 12 month pilot which has been successful and is now being funded substantively. This role will work collaboratively across two organisations; as a Consultant Paediatrician within the Leicester Children's Hospital, and supporting the children and young person's eating disorder team within Leicester Partnership Trust (LPT) (community provider) with the aim of improving the care pathways for children and young people with mental health, and eating disorders in both the community, and in the acute hospital.

We are looking for a Consultant to join the team, working as a General Paediatrician with special interest in Eating Disorders. The role is split equally between the LPT CYPEDs team, a multi-disciplinary team who look after the care of young people with eating disorders up to the age of 18 years across the LLR region, and the Leicester Royal Infirmary Paediatrics team, a major acute children's hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is supported by; a wide MDT with experienced psychiatrists, psychologists, community nurses, occupational therapists, with trainees of all disciplines within LPT; and is supported by a dedicated Clinical Mental Health lead, and dedicated dietician, along with 16 dedicated General Paediatricians in the wider team.

This is a very exciting time to join our team and help develop our service as we continue to evolve. This permanent post is suitable for doctors who wish to not only develop a special interest and skills in Paediatric Eating Disorders and Young People's Health but to share this expertise in the locality to improve standards of adolescent care.

The overriding purpose of the role is to support the provision of highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement for CYP with Eating Disorders. This includes responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the service and department.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

high-quality care for all, being a great place to work, partnerships for impact, and research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

we are compassionate, we are proud, we are inclusive, and we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
