This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a level 7(Masters level) apprenticeship training programme for early careerprofessionals who study the health of populations, plan, commission, manage,deliver, monitor and evaluate health and social care policies and services.

As an Apprentice Population Health Intelligence Specialist,you will focus on analysing health and care data to improve population healthoutcomes, support policymaking, and enhance the efficiency of healthcareservices. The role involves working with large datasets, collaborating withgovernment bodies, and ensuring compliance with health regulations.

Main duties of the job

This post is designed as a joint post with Somerset Council,Public Health. You will be based in Wynford House, Yeovil, however throughoutyour placement you will rotate across other organisations within the Somersethealth and care system, such as secondary care including but not limited toacute hospital, community and mental health and voluntary sector settings. Therole will form a critical point of connection between organisations, helping todevelop common approaches and collaborate on joint projects.

You will be working in health and care settings acrossSomerset to gain knowledge in specified areas in line with the learning on thedegree programme and the business need. You will conduct comprehensive dataanalysis to support public health initiatives; prepare reports andvisualizations for government stakeholders and implement data-driven strategiesto improve public health services.

You will need to collaborate with government agencies,public health officials, and community leaders. You will need to ensure dataanalysis aligns with public health policies and regulations and maintaintransparency and accountability in data handling and reporting.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

This Masters degree level apprenticeship is for early career professionals who study the health of populations, plan, commission, manage, deliver, monitor and evaluate health and social care policies and services.

The Apprentice Population Health Intelligence Specialist will focus on analysing health and care data to improve population health outcomes, support policymaking, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services. The role involves working with large datasets, collaborating with government bodies, and ensuring compliance with health regulations.

This post is designed as a joint post with Somerset Council, Public Health and will necessitate rotation across other organisations within the Somerset health and care system, such as secondary care including but not limited to acute hospital, community and mental health and voluntary sector settings. The role will form a critical point of connection between organisations, helping to develop common approaches and collaborate on joint projects.

The role will work closely with Executive Director of Public and Population Health, Chief Officer Data and Analytics, and Digital Data Lead Officer to assist in the preparation, development and presentation of reports, and support the delivery of an effective proactive health service.

The Health and Care Intelligence Specialist will also have regular contact with colleagues who manage IT systems or provide specific data; have responsibility for the governance and security of data sources; or use data and information for specific purposes (for example finance or human resources colleagues).

More specifically, the role will support the Population Health Transformation Board with data analytics for the development of work to improve health and address healthcare inequalities, health campaigns to support commissioners to improve understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of the population and monitor performance metrics.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE ROLE:

The duties and responsibilities of the role, in accordance with the apprenticeship standard for the Level 7 Health and Care Intelligence Specialist standard are:

Lead on the linking, analysis and interpretation of complex health, care and population data using the most appropriate specialist health analytical, epidemiological and biostatistical techniques; and draw meaningful conclusions to understand the factors that influence population health, inequalities and the planning and delivery of health and care services. Advise expert colleagues, on the design requirements of the most appropriate information systems for holding, linking and analysis of sensitive health and care data and for population health surveillance. Lead the interpretation and presentation of health and care intelligence outputs to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences, including senior decision makers in the NHS and local government. Facilitate the transfer of highly complex health and care knowledge using evidence-based knowledge translation frameworks to policy and decision makers. Advise on the investigation of patterns and variations in determinants, diseases, conditions influencing health and care outcomes and service evaluations. Design and lead the implementation of health and care surveys, disease surveillance tools and instruments, and service evaluation tools. Establish and develop excellent working relationships with health and care system partners, colleagues and the wider team. Undertake the delivery of multiple complex health and care intelligence projects, reviewing and adjusting priorities to meet changing organisational needs. Advise on compliance with health and care information governance standards and legislation and ensure the team and organisation are adhering to other relevant legislation, policies, procedures with respect to the handling of patient confidential data and information. Contribute expertise to the preparation of technical documents such as analytical reports, national and organisational policy documents, audits and performance reports. Identify and implement change management initiatives to meet technical and organisational requirements, ensuring that the delivery of health and care intelligence is not compromised. Work with the wider Somerset System to enable accurate and effective sharing of information for the needs of the population and being a key connection between all parties in the ICS

Update, maintain, organise, gather and analyse information to predict/meet future organisational and team needs by identifying best professional practice.
