About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Analyst to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of health and care within Somerset. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to provide valuable insights that inform strategic decision-making across the NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and deliver a range of data analysis projects, ensuring they are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain robust data quality standards and processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of information.
  • Produce clear, concise, and insightful reports and presentations that communicate complex findings to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments and organizations to gather requirements, share insights, and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in data analytics within the health and care sector.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience working at a similar level in a specialist area.
  • Proven experience of operating successfully in politically sensitive environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in health and care information, planning information, or related fields.
  • Experience working within a Public Health, Health, or Care setting.
  • A track record of developing intelligence reports or needs assessments.
  • Advanced IT skills in Microsoft packages, particularly Excel/Access.
  • Competence in using IT databases and reporting packages (e.g., Power BI, Azure, data warehousing, R, Python, GIS).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to unexpected demands.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Further professional development in data analytics and/or digital data transformation.
  • Experience / knowledge / awareness of Data Quality.
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium, and long-term timeframes and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting. Experience of developing monitoring tools/frameworks to assess performance routinely.
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.
  • Experience of project management and regular task-based activities.
  • Appreciation of the relationship between Department of Health, NHS England, Provider, and Commissioner organizations and ICS.
  • Understanding of current healthcare policy.
  • Awareness of data strategy, including AI.
