We are a small and high-functioningteam with a shared ethos and values that guide our work with individuals andteams across the organisation. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate willhave strong skills in leadership, service development,consultation, clinical supervision, delivering psychological therapy and inteaching, training, and group facilitation. The post holder will lead service delivery of the psychological therapy component of the service, being responsible for governance and quality,and providing clinical leadership to other psychological practitioners. The post-holder will provide individual psychological therapy as well as consultation, assessment, formulation, andinterventions at a team level. There will also be regularopportunities to develop and deliver teaching, training, and workshops across the trust.

The successful candidate willbecome a member of the MY Psychological Services department, which is agrowing health psychology service, offering good opportunities for professionalsupport and development. We actively encourage and support supervision, CPD andservice-related research. As a department we take trainees from several localtraining courses for psychological professionals and have good academic linksto the local training courses. We are also looking to develop and diversify therange of clinical placements we offer within the department. Clinical andprofessional supervision and support will be provided by experienced ClinicalPsychologists or Counsellors/Psychotherapists within the Clinical HealthPsychology Department.

Job responsibilities

To provide highly specialist psychological assessments of clients (whether individuals or team-based clients) referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources, which may include clinical interview, psychometrics, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations, semi-structured interviews/surveys, and focus groups with individuals, staff groups, leaders, and other key stakeholders as appropriate dependent upon the nature of the work (whether individual therapy or team-based intervention).

To formulate and implement psychological intervention based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients presentation, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy.

To be responsible for implementing a range of highly specialist psychological interventions for individuals, groups/teams, and services, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and service areas within the Trust.

To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, team, or service.

To provide highly specialist psychological advice guidance and consultation to leaders and other professionals working within Workforce and Organisational development, where this is not a breach of an individuals confidentiality.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and intervention with clients and to monitor progress throughout the course of that intervention.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 2000) as accredited by the BPS. Formal training in supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists. Significant formal post qualification training in specific therapeutic modalities ( CBT, ACT, CFT, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy etc).

Desirable

Formal qualification in specific therapeutic modality ( post graduate diploma in CBT). Specific training in a trauma-focused therapeutic modality ( EMDR practitioner).

Experience

Essential

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients/clients across the full range of care settings, ( outpatient/ community, and in-patient settings). At least 4 years post-qualification experience, with significant experience (at least 1 year) working within an NHS setting. Significant experience of working directly with staff and/or volunteers who work in health and social care in relation to their mental health and wellbeing. Experience of teaching, training, consultation and professional and clinical supervision. Experience of representing psychology within the context of NHS Trust level systems. Experience in providing leadership and direction for specialist services within Clinical Psychology. Experience of adapting psychological interventions to meet diverse needs of clients receiving care.

Desirable

Experience of working within an NHS Acute Trust. Experience of working within a multicultural framework. Experience of producing documents suitable for publication in scientific journals relevant to the field of psychology. Experience of delivering clinical services as part of a staff psychological wellbeing service within a healthcare organisation. Experience of line managing professionally qualified staff members who work in a health setting.

Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and other professional colleagues. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. The ability to plan, organise and flexibly manage own caseload, adapting to the changing priorities of a complex organisational environment and coordinating the work of professional colleagues. Knowledge and Awareness

High level knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions used to work with individuals and teams presenting with complex difficulties. Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS Formal training and experience in supervision of other Clinical Psychologists

Desirable

High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group/area of practice.
