Job Description

Purpose of the Role

You will lead the Preston quality team across two labs and ensure our standards are maintained and continually improved. You will be part of the wider UK quality team delivering Sika’s strategy for quality ensuring corporate requirements are met and where possible exceeded.

  • Control of quality at all stages; raw materials through to finished product despatch. Corrective actions on non-conforming materials. Preventative actions on new products and processes.
  • Group compliance with ISO9001 and relevant product certification and approvals. Process auditing. Management of the site Sika Management System processes and procedures. Promoting the system internally.
  • Project management - leading cross functional groups to facilitate new processes and procedures. Driving through improvement via data analysis and trend monitoring, and "lean" techniques leading to more efficient processes.
  • Formulation maintenance in liaison with Production and R&D to ensure electronic data is up to date and facilitate the introduction of new products and product maintenance.
  • Direct control of the QC staff, identifying training needs.  Ensuring adequate resources are available to maintain an efficient and effective QC operation. Responsibility for EHS management in the department.
  • Focussing on both internal and external customers where relevant, to maintain high levels of communication.

The Support:

You will be part of the technical team at Preston with its own R&D department to support on technical issues. We also have quality teams at other sites in the UK who all assist in resolving common issues.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry/Data Science/analytics or equivalent experience in a similar field.
  • Experience of working within an ISO9001 organisation and has managed in the direct process and maintenance of that standard.
  • Chemistry background within the building sector target markets.
  • Experience of working within an ISO9001 organisation and has managed in the direct process and maintenance of that standard.
  • Be analytically minded and have an interest in the use of data as a tool for investigations and issue resolution.
  • Have conducted projects and constructed reports in a logical and informative structured format.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green belt ideal
