Cleanroom Technician

The Department of Engineering has a vacancy for a Cleanroom Technician to join the existing technician team at the Electrical Engineering Division in West Cambridge. The Division has two Cleanrooms, the Electrical Engineering Clean Facility (EECF) and the Nanoscience Centre.

The Cleanroom Technician will be responsible for helping maintain or report problems with the operation of the equipment in the cleanrooms, from contributing to lab waste management, liaising with users on requests for consumables and restocking, picking up samples from other staff for analysis and assisting with general housekeeping and safety in the cleanrooms.

The ideal candidate will be educated to GCSE level 4/NVQ level 2 or equivalent including Mathematics, English and a science subject or have an equivalent level of practical experience. More importantly, we are looking for an individual with a genuine interest in the role and a willingness to learn.

As you will be joining an existing team, it is essential that you are a team player with good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills as well as basic IT skills. Previous experience in a Cleanroom or laboratory environment and health and safety awareness in relation to electricity, machinery, pressurised systems and safe use of chemicals would be preferred, although not essential.
