Position Overview: The Department of Engineering is seeking a dedicated Cleanroom Technician to enhance the current technician team within the Electrical Engineering Division. This division operates two specialized cleanroom facilities.

Key Responsibilities: The Cleanroom Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of cleanroom equipment. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and reporting any operational issues with cleanroom equipment.
  • Assisting in laboratory waste management processes.
  • Coordinating with users regarding consumable requests and ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Collecting samples from colleagues for analytical purposes.
  • Supporting general housekeeping and safety protocols within the cleanroom environment.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of GCSE level 4/NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualifications, including Mathematics, English, and a science subject, or demonstrate comparable practical experience. A genuine interest in the cleanroom operations and a strong willingness to learn are essential.

As a member of an established team, it is crucial to exhibit strong teamwork capabilities along with effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Basic IT proficiency is also required. While prior experience in a cleanroom or laboratory setting and knowledge of health and safety regulations concerning electrical systems, machinery, pressurized systems, and chemical handling is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
