Job summary
With the release of NHSE guidanceon the recruitment of the newly qualified General Practitioners under theAdditional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), we are looking to expand our teamby employing Salaried General Practitioners to work alongside our PCNs basedacross North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent .
This is a 3-month fixed term,until 31 March 2025 and further guidance from NHSE is published .
If you are a newly qualified GP(not currently in a substantive employed role in a GP practice and must not bebeyond the second anniversary of your date of completion of training) and areinterested in working across a dynamic group of PCNs/practices, we would loveto hear from you.
Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnoseand treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting.Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues andensure the maintenance of clinical excellence. To be involved in the provisionof education and training to GP Registrars and other staff. To beprofessionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinicalpractice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct ensuring the safety ofpatients and quality of their care is primary.
About us
North Staffordshire GP Federation is a membership organisation supporting North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent primary care, including all 66 GP Practices and 13 Primary Care Networks.
We have been approached by 12 of the North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Primary Care Networks, as follows, to employ up to 15 GPs under the Additional Roles Reimbursement scheme.

Job responsibilities
Maintasks/overview of responsibilities:
Inaccordance with the PCN rota, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-selfavailable to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations,telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking andsigning/authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperworkand correspondence in a timely fashion. Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation. Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems. Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Inconsultation with patients and in line with current practice disease managementprotocols, developing care plans for health. Providingcounselling and health education. Admittingor discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate. Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collectingdata for audit purposes. Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions. Prescribingin accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) wheneverthis is clinically appropriate. Thepost-holder will be required to visit patients during surgery time in anemergency if clinically indicated. Thepost-holder may undertake a fair percentage of On Call sessions per week asallocated on the practice rota as required and participate in the PCN EnhancedService hours (Monday to Friday 6:30pm to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm).Training/Meetings
Attendingtraining and events organised by the practice or other agencies, whereappropriate. Participatepositively and actively in clinical and practice meetings. ThePCN and Practices have a strong ethos around training and development ofothers, therefore the successful candidate will be willing and able to supportmedical students, and other training roles. PatientManagement. Create opportunities to address patients careneeds in the most expedient way, taking into account that continuity of careand access to services are often in direct conflict. Encouragepatients to be aware of the service pressures within primary care and to managetheir expectations of what we can realistically deliver in a manner that isfair and proportionate for all care priorities. Makeimproved use of the telephone and other technologies. Encourage patients torely on face- toface consultation only where there is a clinical need to do so. Communicateand reassure patients of the need to offer alternative care options whereappropriate and safe to do so. Toimmediately highlight any concerns you may have in respect of safety or qualityof patient care to the Clinical Director/Practice Partners/PCN Manager. Person Specification
