Are you an experience registered nurse looking to progress into a managerial role? Team NNUH's Cardiology department have an exciting opportunity to work within the Cardiology specialty as a Sister / Charge Nurse.

Overall our department encompasses an 8 bedded Coronary Care Unit which is the PPCI Centre for Norfolk, 37 bedded acute Cardiology Ward, Cardiac Elective Area and Angiography suite. Our center provides some of the latest Cardiology interventions in our 5 Cath Labs and is involved in National and International Research projects.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, enthusiastic nurse with a keen interest in Cardiology. You will be an organized nurse who is a role model and leads by example, whilst helping to provide the gold standard of care, our patients come to expect from us.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:

Prioritise a rapidly changing workload and have the flexibility to work within a team Taking charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Ward/Department Sister/ Charge Nurse Coordinating and monitoring the progress of patients within their plan of care and to promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team Being competent in taking the lead role during emergency situations and providing support to other members of the team Minimizing hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager The Sister / Charge Nurse role is an essential part of a team, helping to streamline the work of the ward, support and help all members of the ward team to provide a quality service. To use leadership to support and develop the skills of nursing staff within the department. To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

Job responsibilities

Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence. Assist the Ward/Department manager in maintaining standards of nursing practice. Carry out and advise/supervise junior staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluating of nursing care. Carry out the daily personal care of patients. To take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Ward/Department Sister/ Charge Nurse. To ensure the patient administration systems PAS are up-dated to ensure real time data collection and confidentiality. To ensure the effective use of information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trusts Cyber Code of Conduct. To ensure the confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic) is maintained, whilst being aware of the Freedom for Information Act. To co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients within their plan of care and to promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team. Effectively communicate complex, sensitive or contentious information to the multi-disciplinary team gaining their co-operation.
