You would be expected to undertake fracture clinics, elective and trauma operating lists under the direct supervision of a consultant orthopaedic surgeon commensurate to your level of training and experience. You would be expected to undertake on-call commitments as part of the orthopaedic on-call team covering general orthopaedic trauma including covering spinal referrals out of hours. This post does not cover hands and the majority of soft tissue injuries. The on-call commitment includes an overnight non-resident component covering the resident on-call SHO where the expectation is that you remain with minutes travel from the hospital overnight.
