The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Theatre Administrative Assistant to support the clinical teams and theatre activity.

Where you'll be based

The Westbourne Centre is one of the UK's largest independent clinics established in 2009 as part of a joint venture between 5 regional consultants and the global hospital company, Ramsay Healthcare.

As well as delivering exceptional standards of clinical care to our surgical patients, we cover a range of surgical specialities including plastic/cosmetic surgery, minor orthopaedic surgery (including hand and foot surgery), general surgery & ophthalmic surgery.

Duties & responsibilities will include

  • Handling enquiries and calls relating to Theatres and the operational aspects of the department

  • Supporting theatres with administration tasks

  • Maintaining appropriate safe stock levels of consumables within Theatres including par levels and stock rotation

  • Completing the ordering / procurement of medicines for all clinical areas

  • Undertaking the procurement of consumables for all clinical areas

  • Act as point of contact for Theatres

  • Acquiring quotations in an accurate and timely manner

  • Developing and maintaining relevant databases

  • Preparing Patient documentation as required

  • Communicating with consultants and secretaries

  • Promoting and participating in effective communications between other hospital departments and outside agencies as required

  • Actively contribute towards The Westbourne Centre goals and objectives

  • Performing other ad-hoc duties as required by the Heads of Departments and the Senior Management Team

What you'll bring with you

  • Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent

  • English and Maths are particularly important to this role

  • Experience within a customer service environment

  • PC literate, particularly word and excel

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels (face to face/telephone/writing)

  • Ability to work both on your own and as part of a team

  • Able to organize own workload and to accommodate changing deadlines & self motivated

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Good organisational skills and presentation skills

The Westbourne Centre is a private day surgery facility in the heart of the Edgbaston Medical Quarter in Birmingham. The Centre brings together a diverse group of clinical specialists and state-of-the-art facilities, enabling the highest quality procedures, treatments and patient experience for private, insured and NHS patients. We pride ourselves in delivering high quality care to all patients in a supportive caring environment.

The theatre department at The Westbourne Centre is expanding with more consultants joining the team and using the facilities.

The successful applicant will complement the current team, helping to ensure that efficient and individualised high quality patient care, is offered to our whole patient group.

The successful applicant will find a friendly, supportive group of clinicians and nurses, within which career progression and ongoing education are fully supported.

Hours of business at The Westbourne Centre are 8am - 8pm Monday to Saturday.
