Job summary

The post-holder should provide a high-quality service to all patients within St George's Hospital and any patients who are reviewed and assessed as part of the Target Lung Health Check (TLHC) Programme undertaken in the West London area.

The TLHC clinical nurse specialist will work as part of the multi-professional team based at St Georges NHS Trust and working remotely with TLHC colleagues at Harefield NHS Trust and Imperial NHS Trust.

The TLHC CNS will support patients who have been referred into St George's Respiratory clinics for further diagnostics, working closely with the lung cancer nursing team. The TLHC CNS will be an expert in lung cancer screening and diagnostics. The TLHC will also support provision of nurse-led clinics for patients who have completed their curative treatment for lung cancer.

Main duties of the job

The TLHC CNS will attend the weekly screening review meeting at St George's and communicate outcomes to patients following the meeting. They will work closely with TLHC colleagues across West London.

The TLHC nurse will work alongside the Lung Cancer Nursing Team to support potential lung cancer patients through diagnostics. They will provide support to nurse-led follow-up clinics for people who have completed curative treatment for thoracic cancers at St George's.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at St Georges Hospital Foundation Trust for a motivated and dynamic nurse to develop our Targeted Lung Health Checks service alongside the Lung Cancer Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

We are a busy cancer centre diagnosing 4000 people with cancer each year. In addition to provision of cancer treatment for people with cancer living in our local area, we are a regional centre for neuro-surgery, thoracic surgery and penile cancer.

The post holder will have significant experience of communicating with people receiving bad news. The patient's experience will be a priority for you, with a strong emphasis on psychosocial care. You will be supported by an experienced and committed team and have opportunities to develop nursing initiatives. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership and project management skills, and be supported in submitting abstracts to conferences for presentation.
