Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Denton, Tameside
Salary: £419.25 - £500 per week
Position: Full-Time, Starting October
Duration: Until the End of the Academic Year (with potential for a permanent role based on performance)

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a passionate and motivated Humanities Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside, as a Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain valuable experience in education, supporting students and enhancing their learning within the Humanities department.

Role Overview: As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support students across subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies. Your role will be integral in helping students understand and engage with these subjects, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of Humanities lessons, ensuring all students are actively participating and comprehending the material.
  • Provide targeted support to individual students or small groups who may need additional help, particularly in preparing for exams or completing coursework.
  • Help create and maintain an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages student interest in Humanities subjects.
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials, resources, and displays to enhance the learning experience.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to both students and teachers to support ongoing learning and development.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by supporting extracurricular activities, such as Humanities clubs or field trips, where applicable.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a Humanities-related subject (e.g., History, Geography, Sociology, Religious Studies).
  • A strong interest in education and a commitment to supporting student achievement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and independently when required.
  • Prior experience working with young people, whether in a classroom setting, tutoring, or voluntary work, is desirable but not essential.
