Main duties of the job

The Chief People Officer is a member of the Board of Directors, sharing corporate responsibility for the strategic direction of the Trust and delivery of the Trust vision and objectives

The post-holder will lead the People Directorate, ensuring it is fit for purpose, providing an excellent, proactive, efficient service to stakeholders across all aspects of the Human Resources and Organisational Development agenda.

As the most senior lead for the People agenda, the post-holder will role-model the Trust values and drive a culture of compassion, inclusion and civility through a range of initiatives and in all the practices of the People Directorate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Lead the delivery of our Trust People Strategy that is in line the Trust overall strategic direction and the national People agenda.

Play a key role in shaping people strategies for both place and ICB. 

Ensure effective monitoring and measurement across the People agenda to drive performance.

Ensure the provision of timely, high quality information to the People, Culture, and Development Committee, providing assurance that the Trust is working in the best interests of its people and towards its ambition to be an employer of choice within all of the communities we serve.

Through an effective strategic alliance, develop new ways and models of working in collaboration with Place and ICB partners to deliver efficient, effective People and OD services. 

Work closely with all key stakeholders to shape the development of a high-performing People service that builds capacity, capability and culture to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Ensure the development of workforce information systems to support a digital future in line with Trust and ICB ambitions.

Support the organisation to meet and deliver its productivity and efficiency savings through proactive leadership of People and OD issues and timely programmes of activity.

Contribute to and shape the national, regional and ICB agenda, challenging the status quo and supporting the development of a high-performing People and OD service culture.

Interpret and anticipate national and local health policy to ensure strategic people plans support delivery of high-quality patient care.

Set clear direction annually and over the longer term for the People agenda, ensuring that all parts of the Trust are delivering against our ambition to be an employer of choice partnerships.
