Protocol is working in partnership with a Further Education College based in Sunderland in their search for experienced Learning Support Mentors to support students across a range of levels within the college. The college group have a number of roles available with hours ranging from 18 – 28 hours across a week.  

This role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and SEND on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities.
  • Having a 'hands on' approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with pupils.

This role requires:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although again, this is not essential.
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
  • An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils.
