We are a supportive and committed safeguarding team looking for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic safeguarding practitioner to join us. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of safeguarding processes for and a keen interest in developing their expertise further. The post holder will have experience working within a health or social care organisation and will hold a relevant professional registration.
Main duties of the job
You will be an integral part of our established safeguarding service working closely with both adult and children safeguarding team to support the delivery of our statutory requirements.
The core function of this post is to support the provision and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures in the Trust. This includes working with partners and partnership boards, delivering training to Trust staff and multi-agency groups, providing information, guidance and advice to children's workforce across the trust but with a focus on mental health services in Banes, Swindon and Wiltshire.
You will work closely with the safeguarding adults and safeguarding children's specialists, and the Mental Capacity Act Lead, to develop knowledge and improve practice leading to better outcomes for our patients and clients.

Job responsibilities
The safeguarding service is an exceptional service to work for. We are a team of 21 providing specialist advice and operational support to staff across the mental health, community services and specialist services directorates within Oxford Health. We work collaboratively with partners in multi-agency boards and partnerships. The work is varied and rewarding with the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children and vulnerable adults. You will have the opportunity to further develop your areas of expertise and be supported to progress your career with us.
What we need from you
Relevant level of safeguarding experience and professional qualification.You will have practical experience working with children, young people, vulnerable adults and their families. You will have experience dealing with complex safeguarding situations. You will understand the relevant frameworks and processes that underpin good safeguarding practice.
Be compassionate, caring and creative with excellent communication skills.You must have excellent communication skills verbal and written. You must be able to explain complex areas of law and practice to a wide range of audiences, and offer advice and guidance to a range of professionals.
Ability to work collaboratively across directorates and across the wider system partnershipYou will be able to work collaboratively with teams across all directorates and with partners across the wider system. You will promote excellent safeguarding practice throughout the work that you do.
