Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our established Metabolic Bonetherapy team. We are looking to recruit a motivated, flexible and innovative Occupational Therapist to work within our friendly, supportive, integrated Metabolic Bone team.

The successful candidate will have a wide range of experience and will have worked in a multi-disciplinary team. You will be enthusiastic, dynamic, adaptable and have a keen interest in ongoing learning.

You will find a strong commitment to professional training and development, together with experienced peer group support and preceptorship programme'.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the routine occupational therapy assessment and management of a delegated patient caseload that includes the assessment, treatment and management of children with metabolic bone disease and associated problems Youwill be encouraged to work collaboratively with other team members and be supervised regularly by senior staff. You will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team where shared skills will form part of the working practice.

Qualifications

Essential

HCPC registration. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy. Portfolio evidence of reflective practice. An under-graduate case study, essay or dissertation on a paediatric topic Good overall clinical record / profile

Desirable

Membership of the BAOT.

Experience

Experience of team working Experience of working with children either professionally or socially

Desirable

Undergraduate clinical placements in paediatric orthopaedics / metabolic bone disease Evidence of extra responsibilities taken at undergraduate level Involvement in audit, research or service evaluation.

Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession. Knowledge of clinical governance and it's implications for services. Awareness of own limitations Understanding of family / team dynamics and how to develop working relationships with all involved in the child's care. Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and health and safety requirements in meeting the needs of the child and family.

Desirable

Knowledge of consent issues specific to paediatrics. Simple research methodology. Knowledge of topical NHS issues Background knowledge of common paediatric orthopaedic conditions
