Volunteers play an important role within our trust, providing support to those people who use our services. We are committed to growing the opportunities for volunteering within our services and we are always looking for people who are interested in giving their skills and experience.

Dance Project Support Volunteer - To support young people on CAMHS waiting lists to participate in Dance United Yorkshire workshops. Volunteers will keep in contact with young people before they start the workshops to ensure they are ready and able to attend and participate. Volunteers will also attend the workshops, taking part in all movement activity to support the young people’s engagement.

Allotment Volunteer - To support BDCFT Airedale Early Intervention team to maintain an allotment and/or support therapeutic horticultural activities. The volunteer can choose to volunteer for one or both opportunities. Please specify your choice at the interview. The allotment is fully paved and has a greenhouse, Pergola, shed, varies plants, herbs, fruit, and vegetables. There are sections of the allotment that still require work and there is also the general day-to-day maintenance. The general maintenance would include watering the plants, pruning and taking out weeds. **General maintenance: ** Flexible on days and times between Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. This role is fluid and can be done independently, doing as little or as much as you would like. Therapeutic horticultural activities take place on the allotment and are led by staff for people accessing the Airedale Early Intervention services. As a volunteer you can support these activities and help facilitate the groups. Therapeutic horticultural activities: We currently have three groups running every week and these are: • EIP group, every Friday afternoons, 1pm to 3 pm • Older Peoples group, every Monday afternoons, 1pm to 3 pm. Please note you will come into regular contact with patients/people who use the service on the allotment.

Baby Clinic Volunteer - We have an exciting opportunity for volunteers to join our Health visiting team, supporting the community baby clinics. This role would suit someone who is looking to work in the NHS or gain experience to allow them to apply for college or university.

Health Promotion Volunteer - We have an exciting opportunity for volunteers to support our health visiting teams to facilitate the restart of drop-in baby clinics. As a health promotion volunteer you will meet and greet families on arrival to clinic and show them through to the clinic room when it is their turn. You will have good communication skills, allowing you to talk and listen to parents and, after initial training, you will be able to offer basic health promotion messages around topics such as oral health, healthy eating, and safety.

Cooking Volunteer - To set up and deliver cooking sessions on a specific theme and/or with a specific audience in mind; for example, Indian/Pakistani Cuisine Cooking on a budget Breakfast club Vegetarian, etc. The aim is to develop service users' culinary skills, knowledge, and independence through delivering meaningful cooking sessions. The post holder will come into regular contact with patients.

Pampering Volunteer - This volunteer role will support ward staff in facilitating weekly pampering groups on the ward. You will be able to share skills in creating henna designs and simple pampering activities, such as hand massage, face masks, hair styling, applying make-up and nail varnish. The post holder will come into regular contact with service users in hospital.

Therapeutic Activity Support Volunteer - As a Therapeutic Activity Support Volunteer, your role involves assisting staff in implementing a variety of therapeutic, physical, and recreational activities for service-users on acute wards. Tailored to a diverse range on interests and abilities, these are aimed to motivate service users to engage in meaningful activities, adding structure to the day and improving general wellbeing. Staff will be present in the room during the activities.

Gym Instructor Volunteer - As a Gym Instructor Volunteer, you will be working alongside the occupational therapy and physiotherapy team to facilitate 1:1 and/or group physical exercises using our in-house gym – thus encouraging service users to move and experience the mental and physical benefits of physical activity. Volunteers will need the necessary training and qualifications/insurance to lead, teach and demonstrate exercises to our service users.

Café Assistant Volunteer - As a Volunteer you will assist in the preparation and delivery of various hot and cold food and drinks and assist in the day to day running of the Café. You will be able to deal with customers in a polite and friendly manner, with good communication skills. If you have lived experience of mental health or have previously worked in mental health, then we would love to hear from you. We would also welcome applications from anyone with a willingness to learn.

Gardening Group Volunteer - This role is designed to support gardening groups around the acute wards of Lynfield Mount Hospital and The Four Seasons Café. You will help service users by providing guidance on planting, cultivating, and maintaining the gardens, sharing knowledge about plant care, soil health, and sustainable gardening practices. The aim is to also build a rapport with service users and to promote the positive and therapeutic effects of gardening and nature-based therapy on health, wellbeing and recovery. Sessions will involve growing seeds, planting, tidying, and maintaining the outdoors gardens. It is not essential to be a qualified gardener, however, we would like you to have a keen interest in gardening and horticulture.

Immunisations team support volunteer - The role will involve supporting the team in the delivery of immunisation campaigns in community healthcare and school settings across the Bradford District. As an Immunisations Team support volunteer, you will travel to schools across the district and assist with directing users of the service to clinic rooms as well as helping to organise groups of children. You will have good communication skills enabling you to speak, listen and give reassurance to those who may be nervous about vaccinations. After initial training you will be able to share basic health promotion information related to immunisations.

Language Tutor - As a Language Tutor Volunteer, you will play a important role in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding of service-users through dedicated 1:1 or group sessions to teach languages. We are looking for individuals that are proficient in another language/s and are comfortable in teaching tailor language sessions for service users at a beginner’s level. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by breaking down language barriers, fostering cultural understanding, and empowering individuals through the gift of language.

Hair, Beauty, and Pampering Volunteer - As a Volunteer you will support the Occupational Therapy team to facilitate weekly therapeutic groups on the ward that encourage patients to engage in self-care activities. You will share hair, beauty, and pampering skills with service users such as hand massage, hair styling, applying make-up and painting nails.

Therapeutic Activity Support Volunteer - As a Therapeutic Activity Support Volunteer, you'll help staff lead diverse therapeutic, physical, and recreational activities at the Dementia Assessment Unit (DAU) based at Lynfield Mount Hospital. These activities, tailored to various interests and abilities, aim to encourage service users to engage in meaningful pursuits, enhancing their daily structure and overall well-being. Staff supervision will be provided during activities.

Administration Volunteer- Homeless and New Arrivals Team- We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support BDCFT Homeless & New Arrivals Team administrator with administration tasks including preparing TB screening letters for posting, dealing with incoming and outgoing post, printing and ringing patients to obtain feedback. The Homeless & New Arrivals Team is a small multi-disciplinary Health Care Team based in Horton Park Centre working across the Bradford & Airedale district. The team works alongside a number of voluntary, statutory, commissioned, and independent services as well as GP practices and is a resource of information for other services and support agencies. The team also includes the new entrant TB screening service in Bradford.
Talking Therapies Volunteer - The Talking Therapies Volunteer will support Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies in their wellbeing offer by acting as a point of contact for patients and visitors entering Trust sites, supporting the facilitation of psychoeducational workshops, and sharing service promotion materials. The post holder will gain experience working within a community mental health setting and will come into regular contact with patients at community sites. The post holder will have a desire to learn new skills and try something different or may have some spare time to offer to play their part in making a difference to the lives of adults in their community.
