The Role

As a SEN Secondary Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, focusing on those with behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans and EHC Plans.
  • Providing targeted one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges.
  • Assisting in the creation and adaptation of behaviour management strategies and resources.
  • Helping students develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Supporting classroom management and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Encouraging an inclusive and supportive school culture.

Requirements
  • Experience working with secondary school students with special educational needs and behavioural challenges is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of students.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
