Road Safety Driver Trainer Development Officer

Job description

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week

Working Style: Mobile Hybrid worker

We are seeking a dedicated individual to develop and deliver training and testing programmes for all vehicular road users for both our internal and external clients.

You will be a strong, self-starter with the ability to motivate people. You will need dedication, resilience and strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to develop, manage and plan your own work programme to achieve objectives with the minimum of supervision.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a broad understanding of all road safety requirements and legislation and relevant practical experience of driver training and testing.

You will be required to provide and use a suitable motor vehicle for business journeys, for which a casual car allowance/motorcycle allowance will be payable.

The post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service vetting check.

The main duties of the post:

Discharge our responsibility under Corporate Manslaughter Act in relation to driver education/training.Develop and deliver accredited training programmes for Driver CPC, licence acquisition, MiDAS alongside specialist courses set to meet the needs of the organisation e.g.: Banksman, off – Road training etc:Develop and deliver driver behaviour training and testing programmes for all vehicular road users.Income generation through the promotion of driver/rider training programmes for both internal and external clients.Assist in the delivery of statutory provision on Authority.

Experience of delivery of driver training and testing (see Education requirements)Management / Supervisory experienceExperience of productive inter-agency workingKnowledge of Road Safety requirements and legislationWorking with YouthBusiness acumenRelevant knowledge of Health & SafetyRelevant knowledge of Risk AssessmentsT. Literate (Microsoft Office Applications)Broad knowledge of Road Safety practices and issuesKnowledge of process and structure of licence acquisitionDriving license legislation relevant to specific categories

Ideally you will have;

Minimum qualification requirement: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a suitable occupational areaEducated to degree level or equivalent.DVSA Approved Driving InstructorDVSA Fleet InstructorMidas InstructorC1, C or C+E LGV Licence – Full Category held for over 3 years.D1, D or D+E PCV Licence – Full Category held for over 3 years.RTITB BanksmanFirst Aid at Work certificate

Neath Port Talbot’s Road Safety team provide Education, Training and Publicity to a wide audience including Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Cyclists, Young Drivers and Professional Drivers.
